Cidade Velha - the old city of Praia
Located 15 km from the city of Praia, Cidade Velha is home old the port where many salves were traded along with other goods. Despite its past the old town is very charming and scenic with narrow walkways and stone family cottages and the remains of an old fortress where the cathedral lays in ruins. The S. Filipe fortress was built towards the end of the 15th century and boasts stunning views over Cidade Velha and the coastline.
National Maritime Museum Cabo Verde
Located in Praia, this museum of marine archaeology displays treasure that was retrieved from countless shipwrecks around the archipelago of the Cape Verde Islands. A must see!!
