There are countless hillside trails throughout the central areas of Sao Nicolau, all of which boast stunning views and nature. A hike in the fresh, clean air is a real treat.
Fishing
Take a trip to the village of Tarrafal, there you will find fishing boats that will take you out on a unique fishing expedition. The waters surrounding the Cape Verde islands create an excellent venue for deep sea fishing. You will have an opportunity to catch marlin, barracuda, tuna, swordfish and even a shark. A fantastic day out.
Bird Watching
Although to many bird watching involves looking at the local girls on the beach; to ornithologist it is a hive of activity. The small island of Raso is an excellent place to watch and photograph tropical birds and wildlife. Perhaps the biggest attraction is the Cape Verdian lar, one of the rarest birds in the world. But, remember there are no bars, shops or restaurant on the island so you must bring food and water with you.
