Praia Property Guide
The city of Praia (Praia de Santa Maria) is the capital of the Cape Verde Islands and is the base where the government have their headquarters. The Cape Verde's largest island is a distinctly Caribbean; the city is crowded, colorful and vibrant. It is a city that believes in fun, art and music, every day and night you will hear the rhythmic sounds of the cape Verdian music. The music in the Cape Verde islands is a mixture of salsa and samba, it seems that everyone in the city can either play an instrument, sings or dances.
The city puts great emphasis on education. There are over 25 schools in the town all of which specialize in languages and science. 5 years ago the city of Praia opened the Cape Verde's 1st University. The university offers over 60 subjects to its students and is international recognized and certified.
In the 5 years that the university has been open they have registered over 1500 students.
The coastline surrounding Praia is littered with small sandy bays and coves, all of which provide excellent photo opportunities. The city of Praia itself is a mixture of new, creatively designed buildings and old rustic turn of the century architecture that gives the city a rich cultural outlook.
Perhaps one of the most appealing aspects of the city is the market. The market is full of everything that you can possibly think of from, fish to handbags. It is the perfect place for souvenir shopping. Although, a word of warning, be careful, set yourself a strict budget, as you may end up buying souvenirs for your entire family, friends, neighbors, neighbors pets....
