Sal Geographic Location
Sal is situated among the parallels 1695 and 16° 51' North and the meridians 22°52 and 23°00'Westof Greenwich and is a small island, consistingofonly2l6 square kilometers. Of these, about 21.64 square kilometers represent areas of environmental protection some with unique biodiversity. The island is primarily flat having Monte Grande as its highest point, with a height of 486 meters. With an arid climate, and average annual temperatures around 25°C, has a maritime coastline over 1017 kilometers long and kill of beautiful white sand beaches, inlets, bays and islets of crystal clear waters excellent for bathing or practicing water sports. Sal's vegetation is scarce and its Kuna is composed by some species of birds, in. sects, reptiles, fish and sea turtles. Its population is about 17,631 inhabitants.
