Tarrafal Property Guide
Tarrafal is located in the northern part of Santiago, Cape Verde. There is a small population of approximately 18,000 that live in an area that is 112km2. The town of Tarrafal is 75 kilometers from the capital city of Praia. Tarrafal is linked by a road that meanders through small villages and fishing towns like Assomada. The town of Tarrafal is surrounded by agricultural land and deep lush green valleys that take your breath away.
The Sierra da Malagueta range is possibly the most picturesque part of the island of Santiago. The drive through the Sierra da Malagueta mountain range takes you towards the peak where you feel instantaneous temperature changes and intermittent fog clouds.
The main economy of Tarrafal is based around agriculture and fishing. The population of Santiago are experts in their crafts, as they spend a lifetime devoted to their specific area. It is great fun watching the fishermen return after a day spent fishing and watching them show their catch of the day. You will see all manner of fish, swordfish, tuna, barracuda, shark and countless different types of tropical fish.
Tarrafal also attracts a large number of surfers every year. Surfers from around the world come to surf the waves on green bay. Green bay is so called because of the trees and vegetation that surround the beach.
